Polaris Networks is developing a comprehensive portfolio of Protocol Conformance Test solutions for LTE Telecom Equipment Manufacturers, System Integrators and Service Providers. These test solutions will minimize the time required to design LTE equipment and deliver it to the market place.
The LTE Protocol Conformance Testers determine the extent to which LTE User Equipment, Base Stations and Core Network Gateways conform to standards specified by 3GPP. The conformance testers are designed to verify the behavior of the Device Under Test by creating different test scenarios of control message exchanges. The test tools test the mandatory requirements of the Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols as well as the optional features.
A member of ETSI and 3GPP, Polaris supports the protocol conformance test cases specified by the 3GPP RAN Working Groups. Polaris has also taken the initiative in specifying protocol conformance test cases for several LTE protocol stack components and network elements. |

UE Protocol Conformance Tester
The UE Protocol Conformance Tester tests an LTE User Equipment for conformance to the 3GPP TS 36.321 (MAC), TS 36.322 (RLC), TS 36.323 (PDCP), TS 36.331 (RRC), TS 24.301 (NAS) and other related standards.
The UE Protocol Conformance Tester emulates an eNodeB to test the LTE-Uu radio interface of a LTE User Equipment. The tester also emulates multiple neighboring eNodeB entities to test UE mobility and handover procedures. The UE Protocol Conformance Tester supports the protocol conformance test cases developed by the 3GPP RAN5 Working Group.

eNodeB Protocol Conformance Tester
The eNodeB Protocol Conformance Tester tests an LTE Evolved NodeB for conformance to the 3GPP TS 36.321 (MAC), TS 36.322 (RLC), TS 36.323 (PDCP), TS 36.331 (RRC), TS 36.413 (S1-AP) and other related standards.
The eNodeB Protocol Conformance Tester emulates an LTE UE and an MME to test both the LTE-Uu radio interface and the S1-MME network interface of an eNodeB. The tester also emulates an eNodeB entity to test the eNodeB-to-eNodeB interaction over the X2 logical interface. Polaris Networks has taken the initiative in developing the protocol conformance test cases for eNodeB testing.

MME Protocol Conformance Tester
The MME Protocol Conformance Tester tests an LTE Mobile Management Entity for conformance to the TS 36.413 (S1 Application Protocol) and other related standards.
The MME Protocol Conformance Tester emulates an LTE eNodeB and other Core Network entities such as the S-GW and SGSN to test the S1-MME network interface of an MME. Polaris Networks has taken the initiative in developing the protocol conformance test cases for MME testing. These test cases cover all S1 AP procedures, including EPS Bearer Service Management, UE Mobility Functions, etc.
The first release of the MME conformance tester will focus on testing the S1-MME interface. A subsequent release will include tests for the S3 and S5 interfaces.
