Polaris Network's Miniscope is a customizable Protocol Decoder that can be used to decode any application layer protocol. This tool is designed for developers of networking devices and management and analysis tools, who want to include a packet decode utility in their product, or need a debugging tool to aid their development efforts.
Miniscope includes extensions for decoding recently standardized protocols, such as the LLRP and Zigbee. Miniscope also provides a TCP/IP or UDP/IP based API, through which it can decode in real-time packets captured by an external packet capture engine. This API allows Miniscope to be used with packet capture applications running on remote computers or network appliances. Miniscope can thus be used as a powerful, distributed, remote network monitoring and analysis tool. Polaris Networks' Network Commander uses Miniscope for monitoring and analysis of IEEE 802.11 Wireless LANs.
Machine-A: Capturing and sending packet to Miniscope Machine B: Real Time Capturing of Packets.
It can decode different protocols simultaneously.
Machine A and machine B could be same.
The picture above shows a typical use of Miniscope. A single computer running Miniscope is used to analyze network traffic received from two Machines (which can capture network traffic on real time), Machine A and Machine B.Machine A is in the same LAN as the Miniscope computer while Machine B is at a remote location, connected to Miniscope using the Corporate Network or the Internet.
Polaris Networks distributes and supports the Miniscope Protocol Analyzer. Polaris also provides expert services to developers of networking devices and management and analysis tools, to customize Miniscope for their environment and interface their packet capture engine to Miniscope. Polaris software engineers are adept at developing device drivers, protocol decode modules and customized GUI for management and monitoring applications.
