Polaris Networks, a leader in software test solutions
for Telecommunications and Wireless Networking today announced that they have released a 'Polaris
Tested' stamp for the users of the PNCT-ATCA-300 test tool. This stamp is available for use by all
ATCA vendors who use the PNCT-ATCA-300 to test compliance of their ATCA systems to PICMG
specifications and interoperability standards from CP-TA. The Communications Platforms Trade
Association (CP-TA) is a global consortium of companies that have adopted the ATCA specifications
for communication platforms. CP-TA has laid down interoperability compliance requirements and has
also defined the test procedures to test compliance to the requirements. To aid members in their effort
to attain compliance for their ATCA systems, CP-TA has chosen the Polaris Networks' PNCT-ATCA-
300 as the authorized IPMI Manageability Test Tool for the CP-TA compliance test suite.
One of the first companies to use the "Polaris Tested" logo is Advantech.Advantech is a global
manufacturer of telecom computing blades and multicore network processor platforms and have been
using the PNCT-ATCA-300 to test their ATCA system. " The stamp shall help to endorse the fact that
our products are tested by Polaris Test tools which ensure that we bring in reliable and certified
products to the market" said Paul Stevens, Telecom Sector Marketing Director, Advantech.
The PNCT-ATCA-300 is an automated test suite for testing the Hardware Platform Management
(HPM) implementation in ATCA platforms. It also tests IPMC firmware upgrade functions in ATCA
and AMC based building blocks and systems. It is based on the PICMG 3.0 Rev 3.0 ATCA base
specification and the CP-TA ICD (Interoperability Compliance Document) and TPM (Test Procedures
Manual) v 3.0. The Tester is designed for Hardware Manufacturers, System Integrators and Telecom
Equipment Manufacturers, who wish to reduce the time and resources spent on ATCA, AMC and HPM
testing during the development and qualification of building-blocks or during system integration
Polaris' range of xTCA testers include MicroTCA and AMC testers. The MicroTCA tester is an
automated test suite which tests hardware-management software implementation in MicroTCA based
building blocks or systems. The AMC Tester tests the hardware-management software in Module
Management Controllers (MMC) and Carrier Manager. All of these testers are fully compliant with
PICMG specifications and tests for conformance to CP-TA interoperability standards.
About Polaris Networks
Polaris Networks is based in the Boston area and has played a significant role in promoting and
facilitating the widespread adoption of new technologies. Polaris' range of xTCA Test Tools are widely
used by system integrators and manufacturers for their internal testing and QA of ATCA, microTCA
and AMC based building blocks and systems and also to attain Communications Platform Trade
Association (CP-TA) certification. From testing open standards for telecom platforms, the HPI and AIS
tester verifies service availability standards as specified by the SA Forum, for telecom middleware.
Apart from these xTCA testers, Polaris has also developed a suite of comprehensive and cost-effective
test tools for the LTE technology, which enable the testing of LTE Network Equipment.
