Over the last four years, Polaris Networks has been supporting the WiMAX development community with Software Development and QA and testing services. The goal of Polaris Networks is to help companies bring proven new products to the marketplace in the quickest possible time.
Polaris Networks provides the following WiMAX Services: |
|

|
Testing Services: Polaris Networks has been working on WIMAX test tools for the past four years since the inception of the 802.16d protocol standard. Two areas of testing services are:
| Pre-certification Testing: We provide consultancy for WiMAX pre-certification device testing (both BS and SS and other products with WiMAX radio). |
- Conformance Testing (RCT & PCT)
- Functional testing
- Stress testing
|
| WiMAX product developers can benefit from this pre-certification testing services by getting their product thoroughly prior to submission for formal certification. |
| |
| Regression Testing: In consultation with client companies, Polaris will set up an automated test bed for performing regression testing on a routine basis. Polaris can also help clients develop a complete test plan including writing of custom test scripts to facilitate regression testing. Written reports are provided on a weekly or a daily basis. |
|
| System Integration Consultancy Services: Polaris provides engineering consultancy services to all WiMAX hardware vendor companies and chipset companies with respect to integration of WiMAX devices. This service includes technical consultation at product design stage, debug services, testing, system integration, etc. |
| Protocol Stack software development: Polaris Networks is using its expertise in the WiMAX area to develop the 802.16e MAC Protocol Stack software. Polaris’s WiMAC-e software, currently under development, is an extension of its 16d protocol stack. WiMAC-e has been architected to be a fully portable MAC layer with built in management and other related tracking software (for use in billing and other services). This software will run in embedded operating systems (such as Linux, VxWorks, and Windows) and support both Base Station and Subscriber Station operations. Initially the software will be released with Intel chipset, and the work will continue to support other chip sets as well. The MAC Convergence will have support for Ethernet VPN, IP and ATM. Polaris’s service includes porting the WiMAC-e to a vendor specific platform. |
| Support and Maintenance Services: Polaris Networks also provides services related to maintenance of existing products through bug fixes and routine enhancements. This also extends to supporting customers in the field with training and installation. |
